We are committed to safety, employee development and local community initiatives and offer careers in a wide ranging number of Engineering and Support function disciplines A bit about the role: We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Section Engineer to join our growing business. The purpose of this role will be to provide the technical and management expertise necessary to direct, lead and support a highly skilled, multi-disciplined team providing a service to the relevant Operational Departments, which will enable the department to operate at a level of availability and performance within agreed standards. Ensure that Capital, Revenue and Maintenance programmes are carried out efficiently and within budgets. The Section Engineer may deputise for the Lead Engineer in their absence. As part of this role, you will: Determine and allocate the engineering resources and materials needed to satisfy the operational and engineering requirements of the plant. This must be achieved in line with the Company Asset Management Framework, utilising the relevant asset management processes in order to optimise and improve the plant’s availability for production. Devise and develop planned maintenance and inspection schedules and ensure that they are implemented to meet statutory, quality and engineering requirements. The continuous operation of the department dictates that planning for the short downtime periods (3 hours each afternoon and 48 hours at the weekend) is highly optimised. Provide technical and engineering expertise to colleagues. To ensure that plant, departmental personnel and contractors operate within and comply with Tata policy and statuary Health, Safety and Environmental legislation. To ensure safety standards in the area are maintained and safe working procedures are implemented and adhered to at all levels. Reporting any accidents and near misses, to improve the Occupational Safety of personnel. To clearly implement and demonstrate the required approach to process safety requirements in the area of responsibility, including the Management of Change. Monitor and control expenditure on spares, materials and labour. Identify and assist in the preparation of capital and revenue schemes, resulting in the continuous enhancement of engineering and production performance. Develop, prepare and submit Major Maintenance proposals and Stop Week schedules, with responsibility for justification, and full implementation, in order to meet the programme of Works within agreed costs and timescales. Organise and manage the training and development of the Mechanical elements of a multi discipline engineering team and production personnel to provide a safety conscious and technically competent workforce. Monitor and improve Industrial Relations within the department, advise on local negotiations and make recommendations on the appointment and performance management of Staff and Industrial Grades. Liase with and assist Project Engineers during the course of the design and implementation of capital, revenue and major maintenance schemes. Organise and control specialist contractors providing both on and off site maintenance and services, refurbishment and modifications.
